Julia Shanahan Wins Fourth Place for Associated Collegiate Press' Human-Interest Profile Story of the Year
Julia Shanahan (B.A. 2021) is an SJMC alumnus that currently works for The Rappahannock News in northern Virginia. During Julia's time at Iowa, she worked for The Daily Iowan as a political editor, assistant political editor and political editor. During the Spring of 2021, Julia covered the impact that Iowa legislature has on insulin prices, and how it is also being affected at the federal level.
Katie Goodale Wins Third Place for Associated Collegiate Press' Sports Game/Action Photo of the Year
Katie Goodale (B.A. 2021) is an SJMC alumnus that currently works as a full-time photojournalist for The Augusta Chronicles. During Katie's time at Iowa, she has held positions as a photojournalist/videographer and photo editor for The Daily Iowan as well as interning at the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa.
Alexandra Skores Wins Third Place for Associated Collegiate Press' Diversity Story of the Year
Alexandra Skores (B.A. 2021) is an SJMC alumnus that currently works as an intern for The Oregonian in the Covid-19 and breaking news division. During her time at Iowa, she held a multitude of positions including an internship with The Dallas Morning News and working as a news reporter, digital producer, news editor and managing editor for The Daily Iowan. During the Spring of 2021, Alexandra wrote an article covering the celebration of 50 years of the Latino Native American Cultural Center. The center has served as a space for students to express their identity and connect with others.

Robert Read is a current journalism student that took home first place in the “Sports Story of the Year” category.
